Accessibility

Built to be
used by
everyone.

We produce recruitment and public-information work for state agencies, which means accessibility is a requirement we get audited on — not a checkbox. We hold our own site to the same standard.

The standard we build to

This site targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is the benchmark referenced by Section 508 and by Washington State OCIO Policy 188, which is the one that matters when we deliver to a state agency.

What that meant in practice

  • Semantic HTML with a single H1 per page and a logical heading order, so a screen reader can navigate by structure.
  • Every meaningful image carries descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked as such.
  • Full keyboard operability — navigation, dropdowns, the mobile menu, forms and video controls are all reachable and operable without a mouse, with visible focus states.
  • Body and interface text meets or exceeds AA contrast against our dark palette.
  • Text resizes and reflows to 320px without horizontal scrolling or loss of content.
  • Form fields have real labels, and errors are described in text rather than by color alone.
  • Video is never set to autoplay with sound, and every embed has a descriptive title.

Where we fall short

We would rather name these than let you discover them:

  • Our video testimonials carry burned-in captions rather than selectable caption tracks. They are readable on screen, but they cannot be restyled or read by a screen reader, and captions on the remaining clips are still being added.
  • Some videos do not yet have a text transcript on the page.
  • Third-party embeds — the Calendly scheduler and the Vimeo player — are outside our code. We chose providers with published accessibility commitments, but we do not control their markup. If either blocks you, use the phone number or email below and we will handle your request directly.

These are on the list, not filed away.

Found a barrier? Tell us.

If any part of this site stops you from getting what you came for, email contact@asparkcreative.com or call 360.970.4553. Tell us the page and what happened. We aim to reply within two business days and will give you the information in a format that works for you in the meantime.

Accessibility in the work we deliver

Captioning, audio description, transcripts and compliant color and type treatments are part of what we produce for agency clients, not an upcharge discovered at the end. If you are scoping a solicitation with accessibility requirements attached, bring them to the call and we will tell you plainly what we can meet.
